There is no doubt the Pandemic of 2020 has created a lot of changes in our everyday lifestyles, especially when it comes to meeting with friends and family to relax with a beer or cocktail. The lockdowns meant we couldn’t visit our favorite watering holes for food or drinks, so we were left to re-create these environments at home. For many, it meant building their own arsenal of craft beers, spirits, and mixers and learning the art of making the perfect Manhattan or Old Fashioned.
While the Pandemic is long behind us, it doesn’t mean the do-it-yourself mixologist has gone away. Quite the contrary! Many people have made entertaining at home a big part of their lifestyle now because of it, and it’s helped increase the number of homeowners, new and existing, that request having a dedicated space for their own home bars included in their new build or remodel projects. Designing such spaces also brings a mix of storage needs for each one, and today, I’m going to showcase some excellent home bar projects that show some creative uses of cabinetry and storage.
The Moody Classic Wet Bar
Let’s start things off by showcasing this stunning built-in bar featuring our Chapel Hill Panel cabinet door style in the Cyberspace painted finish. The deep blue brings a masculine mood to the bar, which boasts ample yet simple storage. The antique mirrors on the backsplash and behind traditional mullion cabinet doors add texture and beauty while hiding items behind the doors. Add a gold wall-mount faucet, delicate wall sconces, and a wine fridge, and you are ready to entertain in style!

Custom Creativity Beverage Station
Do you desire unique storage for items like wine bottles? Go against the traditional offerings that Dura Supreme cabinetry has and get creative like this project! This Dura Supreme dealer designed a unique wine cabinet using our custom quote process, which is one of the benefits available when using Dura Supreme Cabinetry. The dry bar was created for both coffee and drink prep and has a dual beverage fridge. There is plenty of drawer storage as well as a Pull-Out Base Recycling Center with a hidden wastebasket (in the center base cabinet). Featuring the Hudson shaker door style in the Putty paint finish with stained floating shelves.

The Speakeasy-Inspired Wet Bar
The below project is actually a hidden bar room that you can access through a tall Pass-Thru Pantry cabinet. This little room is super cozy and relaxing, with a bar that adds to the classic feel of the room. Cabinets are designed in the sophisticated Marley door style with our specialty artisan finish, Heritage Paint “E,” which adds a worn, aged look. Check out the creative storage options added to this unique space!

Small Wet Bar with Big Impact
This wet bar design proves you don’t need a large amount of space to have a big impact. The space at the top of the stairs was used to create a small dry bar area. The storage was thoughtfully designed with a shallow, bar-height base cabinet and decorative mullioned wall cabinets with mirrors (trend alert!). A stemware holder mounted underneath the wall cabinet makes it easy to grab a glass or two at the end of the day. Designed with our Avery flat panel door style in Knotty Alder with the dark Feather stain.

Chilled Wine by a Warm Fire
This is Minnesota living! The wet bar offers chilled beverages at the ready as well as fuel for a warm fire in the adjacent fireplace. No need to run outside for wood! The open cabinets are lined with inserts so that firewood logs can be added and taken out without damaging the interior of the cabinets. The rustic Knotty Alder cabinets in our classic Hudson shaker door style with Cashew/Coffee stain glaze adds to the warmth of the space, perfect for gathering around on cold winter nights.

Multi-Functional Home Bar Space
The home bar below is multi-functional and packs a lot into a single run. It acts as a coffee station for needed caffeine moments, as well as offering plenty of storage for bottled drinks, both refrigerated and room temperature. The Tall Pull-Out Pantry makes it easy to find the right mixers for making the perfect Manhattan or Old Fashioned. The built-in ice maker is integrated into the design with a matching appliance panel to hide it within the run of base cabinets. This design features our Monterey Inset door style with a beaded face frame in the Shell Gray/Shadow stain glaze finish on the Maple wood species.

This final project was created by our friends at Bath Plus Kitchen of Alexandria, Virginia. This is another great example of creating a multi-use dry bar area located just off the kitchen. The inset Hudson door in Putty paint brings a classical look to the home, with glass doors on the uppers to display glassware and a pantry for the storage of dry goods. Roll-out shelves in the base cabinets make it easy to search for the right mixer, while the tambour door hides small kitchen appliances for preparing morning breakfast.

Home bars are not just for serving adult beverages. They can be a great addition to kids’ spaces as well, stocked with water, sports drinks, sodas, and juice. No more “Mom, I’m thirsty” as they can help themselves to their own beverage of choice. Consider them for areas such as a family room or just off a sports court or pool patio. As you plan for these great home additions, don’t forget to visit your local Dura Supreme Showroom for more creative ideas to include in your own home bar.
Until next time, Be Well!
