Unless you’ve been under a rock for the past few years, you know that Shaker cabinet door styles have been wildly popular in today’s cabinetry. What you might not know is that there are many types of Shaker door styles, in fact, Dura Supreme actually offers more than 15 different styles of Shaker doors!
These can be designed in inset, full overlay, or standard overlay, in both our framed Crestwood cabinetry line and frameless Bria cabinetry line and made with wood, HDF, Matte Foil, or Textured TFL. While the edge profiles and the sizing can change, our offerings basically fall into three different camps: the Skinny Shaker, the Shallow Shaker, and the Standard Shaker. We will dive into each of these three categories.
Skinny Shaker Doors
Skinny Shakers like our Sutton and Reese door styles are a fabulous alternative to a slab door style. These skinny Shakers can exude midcentury modern vibes as well as a New England farmhouse aesthetic (especially when done in inset). Bonus: hardware choices have no size limitations since the rails and stiles are so small!
Our new Paris door style, with 1-3/4″ wide rails and stiles, is our only door that can be defined as both a shallow shaker AND a skinny shaker. More on that later.

Shallow Shaker Doors
Shallow Shaker style doors have a very slight (only an eighth of an inch) step down to the center panel. The shallow Shaker is great for those who want the ‘essence’ of Shaker styling with a little more contemporary flair.
Two fairly recent new offerings are our Paris door style and our Parker door style. These can be designed in full overlay or inset, are built in either a wood species or HDF, and in framed or frameless cabinetry.
The Kips door style is finished in our Matte Foil for Bria frameless cabinetry and is a shallow Shaker with a beveled inside edge profile.
As alluded to earlier, the Paris door style can be categorized in both the shallow and the skinny Shaker camps. It is Dura Supreme’s newest offering, responding to the market’s demand for this type of styling.

Standard Shaker Doors
The standard Shaker has a ¼” step down to the center panel and can have a beveled or 90 degree inside edge profile. Its rail and stile widths vary from 2¼” to almost 3½” wide.
The Homestead Panel and Craftsman Panel doors each have a 90-degree inside edge profile – Homestead with narrower rails and stiles. The 90-degree profile is more true to historical Shaker styling. Here we see them as inset, although they can also be used in a full overlay application. They make a beautiful statement in modern farmhouse or craftsman styled kitchens.

Our Hudson and Carson doors each have a beveled inside edge profile – Hudson with narrower rails and stiles. The beveled profile creates a softer, transitional look and can be easier to clean. Both are made from a wood species or HDF, and can be designed using full overlay or inset.

Next we have the Santa Fe, Nolan, and Holland door styles – all of which are made of either a wood species or HDF, and are only available in standard overlay. Santa Fe and Holland have a 90 degree inside edge profile, while Nolan has a beveled profile. Santa Fe and Nolan have the skinnier rails and stiles.

With respect to contemporary, standard Shaker doors, we offer Randall and Quinn. Both are available in our frameless Bria Cabinetry line.
The Quinn door style is made using our Textured TFL (Thermally Fused Laminate) material, and has gorgeous texture and graining. This finish is super durable and easy to clean. It pairs beautifully with painted cabinetry in two-toned spaces.
The Randall door is a matte foil door style and has the skinniest rails and stiles in the standard Shaker group. The Matte Foil comes in six different finish options for a clean, minimalist style.

With the huge selection of Shaker door styles that Dura Supreme offers, it won’t be hard to find the perfect style for your project. The nuances between the beveled and 90-degree profiles, and the skinny vs shallow Shakers, provide some great jumping-off points for different design directions.
